Biography

Oge Marques is Professor of Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University. He is an ACM Distinguished Speaker, co-Editor-in-Chief of the upcoming 3rd edition of the Encyclopedia of Multimedia (Springer), and the author of more than 100 publications in his fields of interest and expertise (image retrieval, image processing, human and computer vision), including the textbook “Practical Image and Video Processing Using MATLAB” (Wiley-IEEE Press).

He is Senior Member of both the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), Tau Beta Pi Eminent Engineer, and member of the honor societies of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi and Upsilon Pi Epsilon. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in different countries (USA, Austria, Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, France, and India) and has won several teaching awards, including the Outstanding Mid-Career Teaching Award, American Society for Engineering Education – Southeastern Section (ASEE-SE) (2011) and the Excellence and Innovation in Undergraduate Teaching Award, Florida Atlantic University, twice (2011 and 2004).
