Lea Landucci, Nicola Torpei Vidiface(Computer VIsion Driven Human-Computer Interaction For Artistic and Cultural Environments) is a computer vision framework for recognition and tracking of bare hand gestures as well as smart objects. It is a toolkit for the development of systems that supports cooperative interaction of several users in the manipulation and management of multimedia object. Vidiface is a standalone JAVA application based on Processing that sends messages about the computer vision engine via Open Sound Control to the graphical user interfaces. This framework provides tools for the development of 2d / 3d GUI (with OPENGL support) and displaying media contents.
Moreover Vidiface provides a module to support communication of smart objects (via bluetooth). Phisical setup of Vidiface is composed of a video projector, a wide angle lens (IR Pass filtered) camera and infrared LED lamps. The visualization surface is a tabletop and the projection can be either front or rear. The framework is provided of an automatic calibration engine. This framework has been developed by Nicola Torpei and Lea Landucci at MICC - University of Florence, Italy. Micc Projects based on VIDIFACE framework are TANGerINE and Interactive Bookshop |
