Niccolò Biondi Assistant Professor
(RTD-A)

Niccolò Biondi was a PhD student and Research Fellow at MICC, University of Florence, under the supervision of Prof. Alberto Del Bimbo and Federico Pernici. He is currently Assistant Professor (RTD-A) at the University of Trento.

Niccolò Biondi  received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Florence in 2018 with the thesis “Documents Recognition with Neural Network”. In 2021, he received his Master’s degree cum laude in Computer Engineering from the University of Florence with the thesis “Incremental Learning with Compatible Representations”.

He was a PhD student and Research Fellow at the University of Florence at MICC under the supervision of Prof. Alberto Del Bimbo and Federico Pernici. His research interests included machine learning and computer vision, with particular attention to compatible learning, representation learning and lifelong learning.

He is currently Assistant Professor (RTD-A) in the Multimedia and Human Understanding Group (MHUG) at the University of Trento. His research focuses on advanced machine learning and computer vision, with a strong interest in multimodal learning and biomedical applications. A central aspect of his work is representation learning, particularly the design of backward-compatible and stationary representations that enable large-scale AI models to be updated efficiently without complete retraining. His research has been published in venues including NeurIPS, CVPR and IEEE TPAMI.
