Long Bio
Zahra Moradi Pour is a PhD Researcher in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Florence, specializing in AI-based medical imaging for clinical decision support. Her research focuses on developing interpretable deep learning models using X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound data to enhance diagnostic accuracy and automation. She is currently a research fellow at the Media Integration and Communication Center (MICC), under the supervision of Prof. Stefano Berretti. Zahra has participated in the “Deep Learning for Medical Imaging” summer school at ÉTS Montreal.
Before beginning her PhD, Zahra obtained a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering (AI & Robotics) from Islamic Azad University, Iran. Her thesis on intelligent bone fracture detection using data mining and image processing sparked her enduring passion for AI in medicine. She also holds a Bachelor’s and Associate degrees in Software Engineering, where she developed projects on facial recognitionand fuzzy logic in robotics. From 2013–2016, she was an active member of her university’s robotics research team, contributing to various competitions. She was honored as a Top Young Researcher at Islamic Azad University in 2014 and received a full scholarship.
Zahra is dedicated to advancing AI-powered healthcare, with a current focus on developing clinically deployable models. Her interests span Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Medical Imaging, and she is actively preparing new publications in these areas. Professionally, Zahra has held roles as an AI Engineer in Iran and a Software Test Engineer in Italy, and has also served as a Product Owner in enterprise-level projects. Her portfolio spans intelligent HR systems, as well as RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) testing in the railway industry.
