There are 128 researchers and professors of the Florentine University in the ranking of the most influential world authors in 2019.
The ranking, published by PLOS Biology for all disciplinary sectors, is based on the Scopus database which collects tens of thousands of scientific publications: 2% of the researchers were selected (in total about 160,000), who were most influential in their sector for 2019 based on a set of indicators, largely based on citations received.
Among the indicators used, the total number of citations received and citations of articles of which the researcher is a single author, or first or last author.
